Around
the Community George and Sandy
Powell drove to Wichita Saturday to
spend time with George's oldest sister,
Lillie and family, and to attend the
funeral of his brother-in-law, Irvan
Range, Monday morning. Sympathy to
George and Sandy, too.
Aleen Schalansky has returned to Prairie
Haven following a hospital stay in
Phillipsburg. Eulonda Hagman has
returned home after a short stay in the
Smith County Hospital.
Sympathy is expressed to Virginia Abbott
on the death of her brother-in-law, Tom
Hensley of Ashland, March 9. He is
survived by his wife Claudette, a sister
of Virginia, who resides in a nursing
home in Ashland. Mr. Hensley served in
the Military Police in Japan with Loren
Larrick of Agra and the late Evan Kinyon
of Kensington.
Sympathy also goes to Susan and Floyd
Gross on the death of Susan's father,
Bill Chadwell, last week. The funeral
was Monday. No other details are
available.
Coming over the weekend to help Lelia
Grauerholz celebrate her birthday were
her children, Eldon and Marilyn
Grauerholz of Cimmaron and JoAnn and Joe
Wahrman of Goodland, and her
grandchildren, Scott Grauerholz and
Brian and Bonnie Grauerholz, Brooke and
Bree of Kansas City.
Weekend guests of Dean and Darlene
Miller were Stan and Lisa Miller of
Denton, Tex., Ed and Janese Miller of
North Platte, Neb., and Tim and Denise
Miller and family.
Paul, Deb, and Leah Bienhoff spent the
weekend with their daughter and sister
and husband, Jennifer and Ryan Bruns of
Clarkfield, Minn.
Five members of the K-town Kates and
three guests attended the play, "The
Wizard of Oz", at the Minden Opera House
in Minden, Neb., Sunday afternoon.
Enjoying the delightful production were
Ruth Levin, Deb Levin, Jeanne Bogart,
Loretta Struik, Georgetta Kinyon,
Suzanne Faulkner, Aldean Franklin, and
Ruth Bienhoff. They had supper at Black
Powder in Franklin enroute home where
they also celebrated Ruth Levin's
birthday. .
Trent and Taylor Streeter of Topeka are
visiting their grandparents, Linda and
Leland Rahjes, during spring break
Jack and Shirley Smith of Wichita were
houseguests of Esther Norden while they
visited Shirley's mother, Lorraine
Grauerholz at Prairie Haven.
Light rain fell last night and the
clouds are still prevalent. Farmers are
wishing for sunshine to dry the cattle
lots to make calving chores easier. It
is to warm up mid-week, but possible
rain and even light snow is forecasted
for Friday evening.
Morning came early with the clocks being
shoved up an hour because of Daylight
Savings Time. Like the Old Indian said,
"You cut the top off the blanket and sew
it onto the bottom." It is good that the
children are on spring break and have a
whole week to get used to getting up
earlier. \
Thought for the week from the TR weekly
bulletin: "It's spring fever. That is
what the name of it is. And when you've
got it, you want - Oh, you don't quite
know what it is you do want - but it
just fairly makes your heart ache, you
want it so!"--Mark Twain.
