with him.
Tyler Spears and Stephanie Ellenberger
and Aiden spent last weekend at the home
of Ken and Wanda Ellenberger. They
finally got to celebrate "Christmas"
together
Holiday guests of Darold and Joyce
Grauerholz were their children and
families. They are Julie Grauerholz of
Hays; Shannon, Kristi, Weston, Shelton,
and Hannah Rothchild of Smith Center and
Dr. Byron, Leanne, Ellie and Ben
Grauerholz of Salina.
Paul, Deb, and Leah Bienhoff met their
daughter and husband, Jennifer and Ryan
Bruns of Marshall, Minn., in Norfolk,
Neb., Sunday for a quick visit and to
exchange Christmas gifts. They report
huge snow drifts in north-eastern
Nebraska. The forecast of another
possible winter storm this weekend made
for the quick visit decision.
Six members of the K-town Kates attended
the Phillips County Arts Council
presentation Sunday afternoon. They
report the vocal concert by Bill
Chrastil and Joseph Hall was very
enjoyable.
Darold and Joyce Grauerholz attended the

Everyone is deeply saddened to hear of
the tragedy of the earthquake in Haiti.
If you are wondering where to send your
contributions to have 100% of your
donations go to Haiti relief efforts,
here is an address: ELCA International
Disaster Response, ATTN: Haiti
Earthquake Relief, PO Box 71764,
Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
Bright sunshine and temperatures in the
40's and 50's helped shrink the snow
drifts, produced lots of water in the
gutters on city streets and created very
muddy rural roads and farm lots. Farmers
report difficulty in getting the cattle
fed in the lots and watered in the milo
fields. The forecast of possible rain
and snow mid-week and a major winter
storm heading our way over the weekend
will probably bring our enjoyable
weather to an end for awhile again.

Lorraine Grauerholz's Birthday Party at
Prairie Haven
Cake and ice cream was served to
relatives, friends and residents of
Prairie Haven to honor Lorrraine
Grauerholz on her 94th birthday Sunday
afternoon. Hosts were her children,
Leora Smith of Salina, Kathy and Steve
Scobee of Hope, and Darold and Joyce
Grauerholz. Her daughter, Shirley and
Jack Smith of Wichita, were unable to
attend as Shirley is recovering from
back surgery performed in mid-November.
The usual greetings and exercises and
one-one sessions are held daily.
Manicures were given Monday. Current
events were shared Tuesday and bingo was
played in the afternoon. The Adopted
grandchildren came to visit Wednesday
morning to liven up the premises. This
is always a special monthly event.
Trivia was discussed in the afternoon.
The beauty shop was open Thursday
morning. First St. John Lutheran Church
had the Bible study. Old time radio
shows from the 1930's were talked about.
The local news was read from the Pioneer
Friday morning. Bingo was played in the
afternoon.
Come and see the numerous puzzles that
the residents have been putting together
and perhaps help them finish some of
them. They are very intricate. Card
games and movies are always a favorite
on Saturday.
Because of a mix-up in scheduling , both
First St. John Lutheran Church and St.
John Lutheran came for the worship
service Sunday afternoon. With more in
attendance along with some coming for
Lorraine's birthday party, it was a nice
service. Pastor Dave played the guitar
for the singing and Steve and Linda
Miller helped with the communion
service.
Visitors signing the register were Leora
Smith, Steve and Kathy Scobee, and
Darold and Joyce Grauerholz with
Lorraine Grauerhols; Eileen Anderson and
