Update of Kensington Lions Club

It's great to have Lion J. S. Wagner again providing an update of the Kensington Lions Club for the coming year. He writes:

The Kensington Lions Club began their 2010-2011 year with the annual serving of hamburgers at their stand at the Old Fashioned Saturday Night activities. It was the first duties of four new members, James Jirak, Bruce Hardacre, Galen Larson, and Chris Barnes. They and their families are now welcomed into the Club. The hamburger stand reported an excellent response as they sold all of the sandwiches. The profits from this and other projects are used for community benefits. This past year a sizeable gift was given for the automatic door opener at the Kensington Senior/Community Center.

New officer installed at the June meeting were Becky Saddler, president; Mike Isom, 1st v. president; Galen Larson, 2nd v. president; Bruce Hardacre, 3rd v. president; Bob Bearley, secretary; Dale Detwiler, treasurer; Gary Hainke, 2011 director; Don Wiens, 2012 director; Max Kuhlmann, Lion tamer; Ken Ratliff, tail twister; Sam Rice, immediate past president; Darold Grauerholz, membership; Otto Levin, safety officer.

The next meeting will be Monday, August 30 at 7 p.m. at the Kensington Community Center. Lions Darold Grauerholz and Ken Ratliff will be in charge of the annual steak fry dinner. The program will be the summer recreational program, and these coaches and sponsors will be the guests of the Club.

They assist with designing studies to support their claims and work with EPA and FDA to get them to market. Their company has grown nicely with six full time employees and two part time. Sally states that because of her friends in college she has gotten to know many from the Kensington area and enjoys reading the Kensington news on internet. She doesn't know everybody but likes to keep up with those she does.

It's been another hot weekend, but a cold front is scheduled to arrive this (Monday) evening with a chance of rain. Farmers state that a rain is badly needed to keep the fall crops going.
