Old Fashioned Saturday Night August 14
Bring your lawn chair and plan to come
to Kensington for an Old Fashioned
Saturday Night on August 14. It's a time
for old-fashioned fellowship and fun.
Some events are still on hold such as
the mud volleyball games and swim-fest
at the swimming pool in the afternoon
and will be announced in next week's
issue week.
The evening's events will start on Main
Street with water games for the kids at
5:30 p.m. The Kiddie/Pet Parade will be
at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in
various categories. Nex-Tech will have
their train available for kiddie rides.
Various food and game booths will be set
up along the Main Street offering
goodies to fit all taste buds and will
open shortly after the parade. The
Legion will have the traditional Beer
Garden.
The Sapphire Dance Team, Future Sapphire
Dancers and the Thunder Ridge Middle and
High School Cheerleaders will perform.
Gospel music will be performed from 8:15
to 9 p.m. by the Family Tradition of
Alma, Neb. Van Bradley is a member of
this group.
The evening is meant to give friends and
neighbors an opportunity to visit and
"exchange stories." This writer enjoys
seeing families coming to town together
and watching the children roam freely on
Main Street, mixing with old friends and
making new ones.
The events will conclude with fireworks
at dusk at the Longhorn Football Field
with the Kensington Fire Department in
charge. The Family Tradition will be
playing country music for the street
dance later in the evening to finish off
the evening's fun. See you in Kensington
on Saturday, August 14.

Around
the Community
Ken and Wanda Ellenberger spent last
week vacationing as guests of Pat Clarke
at her cabin in Ryan Park near Saratoga,
Wyo. They helped cut firewood from trees
that had fallen down on the property.
Julie Cole took care of the hair
appointments at Illusions while Wanda
was gone.
Word was received here Monday that Ron
McMurdo had returned safely to Ft. Drum,
N.Y., from Iraq. His wife, Jennifer, and
children, Emily and John are rejoicing
to have him home again.
It is hot and the air conditioners are
doing their stuff. Rain would be a
wonderful contribution as the crops are
beginning to show drought stress with
the heat despite the high humidity. A
brief reprieve may be upcoming the
middle of the week before the "dog days
of summer" set in again.
Thought for the week--"Don't find fault;
find a remedy."--Henry Ford.
