KAYS Sponsoring Fall Blood Drive
November 4
The Thunder Ridge KAYS is holding a Red
Cross Blood Drive at Thunder Ridge High
High School on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The
Red Cross really encourages and supports
students to get involved in this civic
activity. Not only are they important
for the blood supply, but also for
teaching students the responsibility of
caring for each other by giving blood.
Our blood goes to our local hospitals
and it is hoped for a 'wonderful
stranger', but sometimes it is for our
very own friends, family and neighbors.
Any high school student age 16 years or
older can donate blood, but 16 year-olds
need a signed parental consent form.
Please encourage your student to get
involved. There may be a few time slots
open for community donors. Watch for
more information.

Jo (Dilsaver) Kopp of Charley's Creek,
Victoria, Australia, and Marjorie (Dilsaver)

by Marjorie's daughter, Jane Swenson of
Overland Park, along with Donna Dilsaver
of Wichita were visiting relatives and
friends in the Kensington area early
last week. They had Tuesday noonday
lunch at the Kensington Senior Center.
Jo made the trip back to the States
especially to help her sister, Marjorie,
celebrate her 80th birthday. Jo has
lived in Australia since her marriage 47
years ago. Her husband is deceased.
Relatives here received word that Lucas
Scott serving in the US Marines had
arrived safely in Budapest, Hungrary,
where he will be stationed for a year.
He states that it is beautiful there. He
is the son of Wave Scott of Smith Center
and a grandson of Sid and Beth Scott and
Alice Rietzke.
Graveside services were held at Myers
Cemetery near Athol Monday afternoon for
Roger Hardacre of the Dallas, Texas.,
area. He is a brother of Tom Hardacre
and an uncle of Bruce Hardacre.
Maria Seemann spent a long weekend
returning Thursday in Overland Park with
her son and family, Louis and Kristi
Seemann, Alex, Ariel, and Ava. They
celebrated the birthdays of Alex and

Ariz., are visiting her parents, Vernon
and Doris Kuhlmann.
Not to early to begin planning for the
annual Veterans Day parade and barbecue
in Kensington on Saturday, Nov. 14. The
Sons of the American Legion are making
preparations. Alan Bates and Ken
Ellenberger will again be setting up the
parade. Entries are always appreciated.
The theme will be announced next week.
The lovely hand embroidered, quilted
quilt to be raffled by the Kensington
Legion Auxiliary is on display at the
Farmers National Bank and tickets are
available there.
The sun is finally shining this (Monday)
morning ushering in warmer weather until
late Wednesday when more rain is
forecasted. Last week was gloomy with a
1.25 inch rain falling early midweek
followed by cloudy, foggy days with
light nightly rains. Farners are getting
antcy and ready for more favorable fall
harvest weather.
In a phone call to the office at Thunder
Ridge Schools in Kensington today
(Monday), it is reported that they are
in "pretty good shape" today as far as
absentees is concerned. The stomach flu
last week seems to have run its course,
thankfully. Perhaps the sunshine will
help curb the illnesses as well as help
the dispositions.
Don't forget to set your clocks back an
hour when Daylight Savings Time ends
Saturday evening or you will be an hour
early for church on Sunday morning.
H1N1 flu preventative tip--Wash your
hands and say your prayers because germs
and Jesus are everywhere.
