Halloween Parades on Oct. 29

The Thunder Ridge Elementary Students will go to Prairie Haven wearing their Halloween costumes next Thursday, Oct. 29 at 2:15 p.m. The parade downtown will follow at about 2:30 p.m. Parties will be in the classrooms after the children return from the parade. There will be no classes at the local schools on Friday, Oct. 30 which makes the early festivities necessary.

Last Home Football Game is Friday

Thunder Ridge High School will be playing Western Plains for the last home game of the regular season Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. on the Longhorn Field. Everyone is encouraged to come and give them your support. Go Longhorns!

HOME Wellness Center Plans for Halloween

There will be lots and lots of prizes for the Poker Walk/Run sponsored by the HOME Foundation on October 31. Spooktacular begins at 3 p.m. with registration at the HOME Community Wellnesss Center, 101 W. HWY. 36. Entry fee for the Poker Walk/Run is $15 which includes a free soup meal at the end of the walk. The first 25 registering will get prizes! Participants are urged to dress in Halloween costumes. Prizes will also be awarded for best costumes.

The Walk/Run is an event for all ages and abilities with one-half mile and two mile routes. The oldest and youngest walkers will receive prizes as will the fastest person on the long route. The person with the best poker hand will win a cash prize. Those wishing to enter must register from 3 to 4 p.m. on October 31. To register in advance or to pick up guidelines, come to the Wellness center weekday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m.

The Poker Run/Walk is the first of several fun events planned by the HOME Board for Oct. 31. A soup supper for a donation will be held in the Thunder Ridge High School Home Ec Room from 4 to 6 p.m. Children attending will receive Trick or Treat bags, and hay rack rides will be available for all.

After the soup supper Trunk or Treating will be held in the Vo Ag parking lot. Potential "Treaters" (especially for those who live in the country or outskirts of town) are urged to be in their cars on the lot by 5:45 p.m. with their treats. Children will make the rounds from car to car from 6 to 7 p.m. Assistance will be provided for the children. It is hoped this one stop event will be helpful to families allowing young children to have an enjoyable and safe trick or treating experience. It will also give adults the opportunity to treat and see the costumes within a structured time frame.
