Carolyn Billings is scheduled for
back surgery this Friday at the Salina
Regional Medical Center. She expects to
be hospitalized 4 to 5 days.
Seone Reece is scheduled for upper neck
surgery at a hospital in Wichita
Thursday.
Paul and Wilda Conaway
flew to Columbus, Ohio, on Feb.12 where
they were met by their daughter and
husband, Kathy and Russell Tilton. They
then drove to Washington, D.C., to spend
the weekend seeing some of the sights.
The main focus of their trip was getting
to see the WWII, Korean and Viet Nam
memorials and Arlington National
Cemetery. This was a dream trip that
Paul hoped to make, and he and Wilda
state that it was fabulous. Paul is a
veteran of the Korean War.
Ryan
and Tiffany Rietzke and family were
thrilled to move into their newly
constructed home on Old Highway 36 west
of Kensington last week. Nick Luiso and
crew were responsible for the
construction of the beautiful country
home. The Rietzke's had been living in
the United Church parsonage until the
home was completed. Phil and Dixie
Riedel will be moving into the parsonage
during school spring break. They have
been living in a Ted Levin rental house
on north Monroe. Mr. Riedel is the
Thunder Ridge High School principal and
Dixie works for Midwest Energy in
Phillipsburg.
Martin and
Florence Stenseng recently returned from
an extended visit with their daughter,
Carolyn and Jeff Haresnape and family,
at Cary, North Carolina.
Daylight Savings Time will return this
Sunday and you are reminded to turn your
clocks AHEAD Saturday night to be on
time for church Sunday morning. The
children will be going to school in the
dark again and the evenings will have
longer daylight hours making it more
difficult to get them to bed on time.
Melinda Mazzarella of Colorado
Springs spent the past week with her
mother, Lois Hrabe. Also spending the
weekend with Lois were Mike and Diann
Hrabe of Canton. They enjoyed attending
the last basketball games and seeing
their grandson, Blane Hrabe, play in the
scrimmage.
A crowd of about 140
persons crowded into the Kensington
Community Center last Thursday evening
for the auction of the land, house, and
car for the Lucille Schoeni Estate. The
house was purchased by Janis Mogan for
$35,000, and it is reported that their
daughter, Brandi and husband and their
son, Brian, will be living in it. Watch
announcement from the auctioneer, Al
Frieling, about the purchaser of the
land.
It was a chilly weekend
with lows dipping into the single digits
on Friday and Saturday nights. A
covering of snow fell during the night
Friday which mostly disappeared on
Saturday. Temps are due to warm up into
the 70's by the middle of the week which
gives everyone a touch of spring fever.
A soaking spring rain would give
everything a boost.
