Wheat Harvest
Picking Up
Families
lingered after church for visiting
Sunday because farmers were having
trouble finding dry wheat to cut in the
Kensington area, but by mid-afternoon
most combines were in the field. A
pop-up thunderstorm Thursday afternoon
dumped from .60 to over and inch of rain
ins[de a small perimeter around
Kensington. Despite the uncomfortable
temperatures of around the century mark
amd above all last week with humidities
to match, the harvest was mostly moving
from field to field to try to find dry
grain.
With the expected
readings in the 90's and no predicted
rainfall, most of the fields in the area
should be reduced to stubble by the end
of the week. Good yields with
exceptional test weighs are reported.
