Rains Soak Kensington Area
A thunderstorm moved through early
Monday morning leaving a soaking rain in
the Kensington area. The Bienhoff gauge
measured 2.80. Amounts varied, but were
substantial. The area was spared any
hail or wind damage. This amount on top
of the 1.70 inches which fell during the
past week in numerous small showers will
certainly bring rapid growth to the
newly planted spring crops and greatly
benefit the pastures and alfalfa yields.
It is hoped the heavy rains did not harm
the wheat crop as harvest appears to be
about two weeks away.

Teselle and
Kuhlmann Play in All Star Game
It was a beautiful afternoon for the
8-man All-Star Division #1 football game
in Beloit Saturday afternoon. To make it
even more delightful was the win of the
West Team by a score of 44-40. Two
Thunder Ridge players, Matt Teselle and
Taylor Kuhlmann, members of the West
team, played hard to make this win
possible and were recognized in the
Sunday Salina Journal for their efforts.
Jerry Voorhees, Thunder Ridge coach, was
the assistant coach for this team.
Details and pictures are in the sports
section of this issue.

Garage Sales
Successful
From reports
and also the traffic on city streets,
the Kensington City-wide garage sales

It's Summer Time
An often heard quote is "It's
Summertime and the living is easy." That
may be true, but it is a hard time to
write an interesting news column. There
aren't a lot of scheduled events going
on in the community. Your correspondent,
Ruth Bienhoff, knows there are lots of
visitors in the area, folks going on
trips, and grandchildren spending time
with their grandparents. College
students and graduates are making plans.
(Let's brag on them a little bit.) She's
sure your friends, especially those not
living in the Kensington area, would
like to read about this.
All you
need to do is give Ruth a call at
476-2801, write a note and put it in her
mailbox or the container at the post
office, or drop her an e-mail at
ruthb@ruraltel.net. It's easy to say
that the paper has nothing in it, but
you can help this by turning in tidbits
of information from your family and in
the community. Please help.

happy to have all three of her children
home at the same time. On Saturday,
Lois, Duke and Melinda enjoyed having

drove to Natoma to visit their
sister-in-law and aunt, Irene (Hrabe)
Russ. Mike and Diann helped Dan and

Teselle, and Taylor Kuhlmann play in the

Saturday afternoon.
As this is
finished Monday afternoon, the skies are
covered with heavy clouds and it is warm
and humid. An evening thunderstorm would
not be a surprise.
