It is hoped this will become an annual event.

Post Prom Well-Planned and Success

It was great fun for the students and their dates at the Post Prom Party Saturday evening at the lunchroom made possible by many people who worked Prom night to keep the 90 kids entertained and in one place. The theme for the evening was " Thunderstruck Casino." It was termed a well-worthwhile project, and thanks are expressed for all who helped make it a success.

Germantown Cemetery Notes

The annual meeting of the Germantown Cemetery was held April 14. Upkeep and mowing is the major expense for the Cemetery. The Cemetery is not funded from the County and a fee for perpetual maintenance is no longer charged. The Board would appreciate donations and memorials to help with these yearly expenses.

Interest has been expressed in replacing the old metal fence with a white vinyl fence. If there is any interest and support for this project, please give the Board your suggestions and comments. Board members are Alan Grauerholz, Vincent Rietzke, and Brian Dettmer.

Kensington Lions Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Kensington Lions Club members were joined by spouses, past members, widows of past members, and area Lions to celebrate their 50th Anniversary Saturday at the American Legion. A total of around 60 people attended and were treated to special dinner music by Sherry Newbrey and Annette Riley as they enjoyed a pork chop dinner served by the Kensington American Legion. Blue and gold decorations were used with spring flower arrangements at the center of each table. These flowers were later given as door prizes to some of the guests.

District Governor John Lee introduced the speaker for the evening, Ernest Young, Jr. who is a past International Director. His message was one of reflection on the many accomplishments of the Kensington Lions Club and of Lions International along with a challenge to keep serving the community and building membership in the next 50 years.

Lions Martin Stenseng, Roy Wangerin, and Dale Detwiler were honored as charter members still active in the club with Dale recognized for 50 years of perfect attendance and was awarded the Distinguished Lion Award from Lions International.

The Kensington Lions Club is active in many community activities including summer baseball and softball and the community calendar. The Club is always seeking interested men and women who wish to become Lions and be active in community service. Anyone interested should please contact one of the local members.
