The annual potluck supper and program honoring
couples with anniversaries divisible by five
was held at St. John Lutheran Parish Hall
Sunday evening. The tables were festively
decorated with red and pink hearts and candles
and centered with small treasure chests
depicting the theme, "For where your treasure
is, there will your heart be also." Matthew
6:21. Hearts marked with love, patience, and
other fruits of the Spirit spilled to the
tables from the chests. Wedding pictures of
the honored couples were displayed on a
special table.
Linda Diercks, chairperson, welcomed the
guests and pinned hearts on the distinguished
couples as they arrived. Pastor Patsy Koeneke
gave the table grace before the potluck meal
was served by members of work group 1.
John and Becky Saddler were introduced for
special entertainment and Becky read the
humorous reading, "Intelligence". Linda
Diercks read "Treasures in Life" before
introducing the honored guests and asking the
husbands to come forward to receive a red rose
to present to their wives. John and Becky
entertained by singing special love songs for
all to enjoy.
The surprise of the evening was when Wesley
Diercks surprised his wife, Linda, with a
bouquet of flowers and another marriage
proposal which was followed by the
"Affirmation of their wedding
vows" conducted by Pastor Koeneke.
Honored couples were Lavern and Carolyn Holle,
50 years; Dalyn and Carole Diercks, 45 years;
