Around the
Community
Arriving in the Dennis and Judy Graf
home the weekend after Christmas to
celebrate the holiday were Rod and Amy
Graf, Jordan, Megan, Ashley and Alyssa
of Woodstock, Ill., Troy and Jackie
Graf, Dayton, Trey and Briley of
Lincoln, Neb., and Keith and Tami
Cosgrove, Cash, Skylar and Allie and
Joey and Tricia Anderson, Carson and
Adisyn, all of Bassett, Neb. Also
joining them on Saturday were Larry and
Phyllis Lane of Bassett, Neb., to help
celebrate their daughter, Jackie Graf's
40th birthday. A Sunday afternoon
visitor was Dr. Steve Graf of Almena,
Kans.
Stan and Carolyn Billings
had their entire family home for dinner
and a gift exchange on Christmas Day.
Those present were Debbie, Ed & Ian
Murdoch of Hendersonville N.C.; Linda,
Leonard and Ariel Robinson of Smith
Center, Eric Robinson of Manhattan;
Leonard Robinson, Sr. of Phillipsburg;
Sheila, Ron, Molly and Morgan Jansonius
of Oberlin; Greg, Robin, Nolan and
Kendra Billings of Kensington; Joshua
Billings of San Bernardino, Calif.; and
Tyrel Billings and Randi Horn of
Manhattan. Most of this group were
supper guests of Linda and Leonard
Robinson Friday evening. Debbie, Ed, and
Ian Murdoch were able to spend the
entire week with the Billings' families.
They were missing Grandpa Guy Billings
due to his ill health. Rod & Judy
Billings of Colorada Springs stayed with
Guy at his home.
Duane and LeAnn
Smith returned home Jan. 1 after flying
to Bellingham, Wash., Dec. 23 to spend
Christmas with the Kent Smith family. A
most enjoyable time was spent visiting
and being with some family members that
had not been together since Christmas,
2007. Duane and LeAnn's grandson, Joel
Smith, was there from Boston, Mass.,
where he is employed at Sasakia &
Associates Architecture Firm, and
granddaugters, Natalie Smith from
Alamosa, Colo, where she is a Residents
Director at Adams State College and
Danielle Smith of Federal Way, Wash.,
where she just completed her first
semester of teaching at the Camelot
Elementary School. Friends of the
grandchildren who joined the family were
Nadia Al-Masri of Boston and Sara Trane,
a student at Washington State from
Sweden.
The northwest is
experiencing a most stormy and unusual
winter with much snow, rain and cold
temperatures. According to reports, the
records show Bellingham, Wash., has not
had snow on Christmas Day since 1861.
Duane and LeAnn had a special time with
their family but were thankful to make
the trip without plane delays, etc., and
arrive home safely.
A cold front
moved in over the weekend but without
moisture which ended the pleasant
weather enjoyed last week. Weather
predictions are for warmer weather to
return during this week. With all the
adverse weather reported across the
northwestern and northern states, there
is nothing to complain about in this
area.
